Pelvic floor therapy is an internal vaginal therapy for women that focuses on the pelvic floor muscles. Similar to other muscles of the body, the muscles of the pelvic floor can also become fatigued, overworked, and have painful trigger points. This therapy uses gentle internal massage to restore physical and emotional balance to the pelvic floor muscles and organs and decrease problematic symptoms.
The initial visit includes a detailed history of your symptoms, a pelvic floor assessment, and treatment. If needed, follow-up visits include a discussion around response to treatment and an additional treatment. Most patients receive symptom improvement with 1-6 treatments.
Pelvic floor can be helpful for a variety of conditions including but not limited to:
History of pelvic trauma or abuse
Painful intercourse or painful sexual activity
Recurrent/chronic vaginal infections or UTIs
Urinary leakage or incontinence
